Students and their families are invited to join 4J Safe Routes to School and the City of Eugene Recreation and Adaptive Recreation Programs to test different styles of adaptive bikes and to learn bike handling and traffic safety skills. Many styles of bikes will be available to try in the parking lot and on the adjacent path system. Bikes and helmets will be provided. All age students and their families welcome! Female JUNIORS - apply to be selected for a week-long (6/22-6/28) mock government program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
- Requirements: U.S citizen, show respect for and salute the American flag.
- Selection based on leadership, scholarship, character, and interest in community service and government. Application fees may be covered by local American Legion Auxillary (https://www.facebook.com/AmLegionPost83/)
- Deadline: 4/15/25 for Girls State Program (not scholarship, which is due on the first day of the program, 6/22/25). Print and bring Girls State application to Lori Sauter in the College and Career Center.

Student Volunteering Opportunities:
Courageous Kids Summer Camp. Volunteers, aged 14+, needed to support youth, aged 6-17, who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Volunteers will help create a safe, supportive experience through camp activities. Camp will take place 7/14-18 in Fall Creek, OR. Training provided. 5/15: Shift Community Cycles Volunteer Work Party. Every 3rd Thursday of the month from 6:30-8:30 pm at 811 West 6th Avenue, Eugene. Help refurbish bikes which are given to underserved people in the community. No experience necessary. Come hang out, enjoy pizza, drinks, and good vibes with excellent people. Summer Opportunities:
NOW: Register for LESD Youth Trades Academy. Takes place 7/7-7/24 from 9 am-3 pm. Free opportunity for current Lane County juniors and seniors to gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of traditional and non-traditional trades including fiber optics, automotive, heavy diesel, and more. Limited space available, so register ASAP, but final registration deadline is 6/1.
NOW: Register for LCC Early College Summer Camps. Free opportunities to learn the basics of a hands-on career skill. Camp registration is lottery based. LCC will notify parents in early June if their student is selected or wait-listed for a camp. Questions? Contact Brenda WIlliams, Early College Advisor ( williamsb@lanecc.edu, 541-463-3443).
5/2: Academia Juntos/Juntos Academy registration deadline. This free overnight summer camp for incoming 9th-12th graders will take place 6/23-27. The program offers students a preview of a college experience, career and academic exploration, leadership development, and more. Participants stay in residence halls at OSU in Corvallis. Limited space is available, so register as soon as possible.
5/19: Summer Business Institute (at Portland State University) application deadline. SBI is a free 6-day summer overnight program designed for historically excluded high school students, including rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students engage in college-level coursework, connect with business leaders, and build a strong community with peers and mentors while gaining valuable insights into the world of business. Takes place 7/13-18 at PSU.
5/19: Willamette University’s Camp College application deadline. Takes place 7/23-25 at Willamette University. Free, 3-day residential camp. Explore campus life, attend workshops on college applications, and visit neighboring colleges. Ideal for students from the Willamette Valley committed to pursuing a four-year degree.

Senior Graduation Checkout: Seniors must complete four tasks (in any order) before they can select their ceremony seating, pick up their cap and gown, and access their guest tickets:
- Pay outstanding library fees and fines, and return overdue books to the library.
- Pay outstanding textbook fees and fines, and return unused textbooks to the AV/textbook room.
- Complete this College/Career Center Google form (which walks seniors through two surveys).
- Take care of ceremony business in the counseling center.

Seniors! Headed to LCC next year? You don’t have to pay the LCC application deposit. Contact Lori Sauter in the College and Career Center for the deposit waiver code. And, by the way, an LCC rep will be in the College and Career Center on Tuesday, May 6th at 11:45 to help you register to attend.
Class of 2025 Summer Melt Campaign, ECMC. Keep students engaged this summer by signing them up for ECMC's Summer Melt texting campaign, designed for those entering 2 year or 4 year college/universities.
Class of 2026 Support, ECMC. Support current juniors/rising seniors by having them sign up for ECMC's summer and school year guidance with college lists, personal statements, scholarships, and financial aid.
NOW: Register for the LCC Trades Expo taking place at LCC in the Advanced Technology Building on 5/16 from 9 am-1 pm . Free event that includes two one-hour sessions with the option to choose from: automotive, construction, diesel, computer information technology, CNC/machining, drafting, and welding programs. Plus, LCC will introduce their new Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Business Management. A day full of hands-on activities, a drone show, a vehicle display, and free lunch for any interested students. Expo schedule. Registration required to attend. Questions? 5/8: Hiring Fair sponsored by Connected Lane County. 9 am-2 pm at Spark at Booth-Kelly (303 South 5th St, Ste 150, Springfield.). Free opportunity for graduating seniors and youth ages 16-24, regardless of school enrollment, who are looking for a career-type job. Register by 4/28 to attend via the above link.
