Cell Phone Reminder

As a reminder, below are the responses for students who have cell phones or other PEDs out between the first bell and last bell of the day:

  • Level 1: Verbal warning and reminder of the policy and school expectations
  • Level 2: Device will be confiscated and held in the office until the end of the school day, families will be notified, and minor referral issued.
  • Level 3: Device will b e confiscated and held in the office until the end of the school day, followed by a required student conference with a family member and school administrator in attendance. Students may need to check-in their devices at the office at the start of the school day for a set period of time to reinforce expectations.
Over the last couple of weeks, we have had many students have a level 1: verbal warning and reminder, including a school-wide announcement reminder. We want to reshare the policy to remind students and families that level 2 responses will happen to students who have been given level 1 responses and are still not following the policy.

As a reminder to students and parents, we do have landlines available for students to use throughout the day, and office staff available to get notes to students or pull them out of class if a last-minute need or emergency arises. Parents can call 541-790-8000 to speak to office staff, and please answer calls from 541-790-8000.

Hold the Date: Family Conferences

South Eugene's teachers are looking forward to the time dedicated to meeting with families and discussing their student's goals and progress. Conferences will be held before Thanksgiving. More information on scheduling will be made available in future newsletters.
