Family Conference Planning
 South Eugene's teachers are looking forward to the time dedicated to meeting with families and discussing their student's goals and progress. The dates for Conferences are November 24th and 25th, with a full day and evening on the 24th, then a daytime window on the 25th. 

Reservations for specific teachers will be made available to all by November 14th, 10 days before Conferences. We will provide some Childcare options for families. Please look for specific or general invitations through ParentSquare, however you receive alerts. 

Club Axe Special Midterm Session

Club Axe meets every Monday and Thursday, after school in the Library from 3:30-4:30. This is an open drop in time where all students are invited to work on classwork, homework, and study for tests. Teachers and peer tutors are on hand to help. 

This Monday, November 3, we are having a special two-hour session of Club Axe (3:30-5:30) to get ready for midterms. Pizza will be provided!

Community Support Opportunities:
With winter holidays on the horizon and resources uncertain for many families, South's staff would like to help facilitate sharing among community members. If you would like to donate gift cards for groceries or other needs, please contact the Counseling Center or bring donations to South's offices, care of the Counseling Center. Learn more about options for donations and support through the Economic Justice League here. 


Staff Appreciation Request:
Please join the SEHS parent community as we express our appreciation for the SEHS faculty, staff, and administration for all their efforts at our annual Grateful Gathering Luncheon on Friday, November 21, at 12:00 p.m.  Please sign up to contribute food items for this volunteer event at this link.

**The 2026 Eugenean Yearbook is on sale now.**

Note: Jostens charges a $3.99 service fee.
Yearbooks have sold out the last two years, and we had many students scrambling or missing out
at distribution. Please be sure to order early and bookmark the confirmation in the email account used
to set up the purchase. You should always be able to pull up this proof of purchase by searching your
email account for keywords: Jostens, yearbook, 2026.

We are not doing any yearbook sales on SchoolPay. If you do not do online shopping, please print
and complete this form and submit with check or cash payment to Bobbie Willis’s mailbox in the South
Eugene Main Office. Checks should be made out to “South Eugene Yearbook.” See costs and
deadlines below.

Yearbook pricing schedule:
○ $65 until Nov. 14. Order early and save! Installment payments available at the sales link.
○ $75 after Nov. 14 until pre-orders close second semester.
○ $80 for any books available for sale at distribution.

● Requests for partial or full yearbook scholarships should be emailed directly to the South
Finance Office.
Senior Photos

● Senior yearbook photos and quotes are due Friday, Dec. 19. Go to this link to read the
Photo Specifications and Appropriate Attire Guidelines before submitting your photos, as
well as to submit photos that meet the specifications. Custom portraits are NOT required. A
good school picture makes the yearbook staff’s job much easier.

● Senior Recognition/Farewell Ads
Order a Senior Recognition Ad at our Jostens sales portal link. Scroll down past the yearbook
purchase offer (but be sure to buy a yearbook!), and create an account to build your ad online.

National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)

For students (ages 15-18) to study a language in summer or academic year. Intensive language learning via classes, cultural activities, and living overseas with a host family. Merit-based. Previous language experience is not required.

Student Volunteering Opportunities:

11/2: Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance Volunteer Appreciation PartyIronically, student volunteers are needed to help with this event. 

  • Location: Garden Club at 1645 High St.

  • Parking:  Across the street. Parking lot owner has given permission.

  • Times: 3:30-5:00 to set up, 5:00-7:00  during the party, 7:00 to help clean up

  • Bonus: Volunteers get pizza and cake!

Student Leadership Opportunities:

Lane Youth Transportation Advisory Council. LYTAC is recruiting new members aged 13-19 in Lane County. The council offers opportunities to engage with local transportation issues, projects, and policy. Members commit up to 7 hours per month and receive a $100 stipend. Interested parties apply here. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

11/3: LCC’s RTEC101 class begins. This is a free for-credit class for graduating high school students and is intended to provide you with all the tools and resources you need to become a successful student at Lane.


11/3: CBYX (study abroad) Scholarship application deadlineThis yearlong program gives students the opportunity to live with a German host family and attend high school in Germany. Most costs are covered by U.S. and German governments.

11/6: SEHS FAFSA/ORSAA Completion Workshop at 6:30 pm in SEHS room 6. Assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA–for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens) or the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA–for Oregon residents who have undocumented status, DACA status, and/or TPS). Be prepared—have on hand your SSN (for FAFSA only) and your most up-to-date tax and financial information. Seniors completing the FAFSA and their Financial Aid Parents should complete separate FSAIDs beforehand, if possible. Email Lori Sauter (sauter_l@4j.lane.edu) to confirm that you plan to attend. Spanish-language assistance available.

It is now time to begin the ordering process for the Class of 2026 Graduation. Orders need to be placed through Miners Graduate Services.  Below are the instructions and information for placing your graduation order:
 
  • Orders can be placed online at https://minersgrad.com.
  • Order online by Tuesday, November 18th and receive your Class of 2026 Gear (sweatshirts, bling tassels etc.) at school during Lunch on November 18th.

UPCOMING DATES OF IMPORTANCE


MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3: Extended CLUB AXE Tutoring

In preparation for midterms, the after-school tutoring program Club Axe will hold a special extended study session from 3:45-5:45pm in the SEHS Library. Pizza will be provided!


THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6: UO Early Application Workshop

Jennifer Corona, admissions representative from the University of Oregon, will be at South this Thursday to directly assist students in submitting their application to the UO. The UO deadline for early application was November 1st - yet any student who completes at this session will be considered early application and will still receive their admission results by mid-December. Be prepared to self-report your course history and transcript grades through STARS (the Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System). Counseling Secretary Jessica Kuehn can provide you with an unofficial transcript of your grades upon timely request: kuehn_j@4j.lane.edu 

    

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7: Final Day to Resolve an Incomplete from Last Year

Students who have an incomplete from the second semester of last year must resolve that status by completing all work before November 7th. Please talk to your counselor immediately if you have any questions. 


The FAFSA/ORSAA Federal Financial Aid and Oregon Student Aid Portals opened on October 1st – if you need any assistance to complete this very important step in the college application process, please contact Lori Sauter in the College and Career Center at sauter_l@4j.lane.edu for support. The OSAC Scholarship Portal Opened on November 1st - this scholarship clearinghouse platform allows students to apply for multiple need and merit-based scholarships with a single application.
