This is the final week of Latino Heritage Month, which runs from September 15October 15. Latino Heritage Month begins on September 15, which is the anniversary of the independence of five Latin American countries; Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition to the previously mentioned countries, Mexico declared its independence on September 16, and Chile on September 18.   Here is a quote to remember from labor organizer Dolores Huerta: “We must use our lives to make the world a better place to live, not just to acquire things. That is what we are put on the earth for.”

NASU meets during fourth period every Wednesday in Room 304.   

PURPLE PACKET
Seniors!!! Are you planning to apply to a 4 year college? If so, you must complete a purple packet which can be picked up in the counseling office. 

PreACT
PreACT! On Thursday, October 12th we have our annual College and Career Readiness Day. On that day all 10th graders will take the PreACT starting at 8:30. Test room assignments will be posted outside the counseling office.  Please bring a #2 pencil and calculator and see Michael Leahy in counseling with questions about the PreACT.

COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS
College and Career Readiness Day is coming up this Thursday, October 12th. School will start at 8:30 and end at noon when lunch will be served. Students will NOT go to regular classes that day. Ninth graders will spend the morning in workshops and activities. Sophomores will take the Pre-ACT. Juniors who registered will be taking the PSAT, while all seniors and non-testing juniors participate in college and career webinars and activities. All students’ room assignments will be posted around the school, including outside the counseling center, and can also be found under the Schedule tab in StudentVue on Thursday. All students except sophomores will need their charged laptops. Seniors and non-testing juniors should bring earphones, as well. 

PSAT
Attention Juniors who have pre-registered for the PSAT, please check your Canvas and 4j email with instructions to download the Blue Book app. Downloading your Blue Book is required prior to your PSAT test on Thursday. The PSAT will take place on Thursday from 8:30-noon. Michael Leahy is available in the counseling center with questions prior to the PSAT test.
