Announcements for December 7th 2022
Scholarship opportunity: Seniors, if you identify as LGBTQ+ and plan to attend college full time, consider applying for the Point Foundation Scholarship, due December 21st. Award criteria include academic performance, leadership skills, financial need, and involvement in the LGBTQ+ community. Attention is given to students who have faced obstacles due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Drop by the career center in room 7 or email Lori Sauter for more information.
Art award: This one goes out to you budding artists in all grades: Check out the 2023 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Submissions for the Oregon region competition are due next Monday, December 12. Go to artandwriting.org for more information, or drop by the career center in room 7.
FAFSA time: Seniors, if you plan to go to any type of college after high school and you want any type of financial aid, you need to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. If this is a source of stress or confusion, drop by the career center in room 7 or email Lori Sauter for help.
Junior Project: Juniors, as you know, the first 7 modules of the Junior Project have been published. If you have any questions about how to complete them, please drop by the career center in room 7, or email Lori Sauter for more information.
Town Hall: We meet tomorrow during second period, in the little theater. Fall sports reps do not need to attend. See you tomorrow!
Latinx Student Union: Attention everyone! Latinx Student Union meets today and every Wednesday in Room 29 at lunch. This week we are planning for the Martin Luther King Jr Assembly coming up in January. If you are interested in helping recognize and highlight Latinx culture at the assembly, join us in Elle Sabala’s room today at lunch! We hope to see you there!
Climate club: Come join EG350, the climate activism club, in room 523 Wednesdays at lunch! We talk about climate change, plan meaningful volunteer activities, advocate for climate policies and much more! Today we have a guest speaker coming in, so don’t miss out! We’ll see you at lunch!!
Chess team: The Chess team meets every Thursday during lunch in Room 415, Asher Tubman’s class. We host tournaments and chess lessons weekly and will be competing in the state championship this year for the first time since lockdown. Come join us for a fun and competitive chess experience.
Movie Night: Do you like Megamind, popcorn, and/or hot cocoa? Then come to the Little Theater at 6:30 tonight to watch Megamind and enjoy some free movie snacks. Admission is $5 at the door, and remember to bring your student ID!
Badminton: Sup kiddos. Back at it again with the badminton tourney. Its today at lunch in the big gym. Its the quarterfinals round. Come and Have fun.
South Eugene Theater presents Miss Bennet Christmas at Pemberley, dinner theater! This delightful twist on Jane Austen’s original Pride and Prejudice Novel features the forgotten middle sister Mary and her quest to be heard and understood. Follow the Bennet family as they navigate Christmas as a family again. South Fork will be catering the dinner. The showdates are December 1,2,3 & 8,9,10.
