-Hey Seniors! We have 3 scholarships coming up that are specifically for South Students. The SEHS Staff and Alumni Scholarships award $1,000 and $2,000 to South students attending either a 2 or 4 year school and considers financial need. The Robert Stothers Memorial Scholarship awards $2,000 to a South student pursuing a degree in education. All of these scholarships are due on May 10th. Stop by the Career Center for an application or visit the South website.
-A representative from Northern Arizona University will be in the Career Center on Thursday, April 25th during 1st period.
-Student volunteers are needed for Mike Bellotti’s Toast to Strength Gala. The gala will take place on Thursday, May 9th, and volunteers are needed from 4-10 pm at Autzen Stadium. There will be a volunteer training this Friday, April 26th. Funds raised send children with physical disabilities to a specially adapted statewide summer camp in Salem. To volunteer, call Malissa Bare, MDA Development Director, at 541-543-5833 or visit the Career Center.
-Edgewood Elementary School Fun Night is this Friday, April 26th, from 5:15-8 pm. They are seeking volunteers to work at simple carnival games and help them have fun and raise funds for the school. If you are interested, please visit the Career Center.
EG350: Earthfest is here! Come to the science courtyard Thursday at lunch for live music, guest speaker Mary Wood, activities and food. See you there!
-Seniors: 4j Honors service logs are due to the Counseling Office by May 1st. If you have any questions please see Melinda in Counseling.
-Classic Juniors: There will be a “Rising Senior” meeting this Friday, April 26th, after school, in the Auditorium. Counselors will be going over important graduation requirements and information. This is a required meeting and should last around 45 minutes.
-Hey South! This week is green week. Look out for reusable straw available in the main hallway and donate your returnable cans and bottles in the bins there too!
-ASB Student Government applications are available in the office and will be due on May 8th. Class election applications will be available at a later date.
Soccer: Come and meet the new men’s and women’s head soccer coaches on Thursday in the cafeteria from 6-7 pm.
BSU: There is a State of Emergency Conference at Lane Community College this Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm for African American families, students and allies. This conference will inform participants about House bill 2106 State of Emergency, for African American students. Lunch is provided. See Gregory Dunkin for more information.
String Ensemble: Congratulations to String Ensemble! They will be going to State on May 9th! Way to go. That requires a lot of dedication and hardwork!
South Eugene Theater: “The Siegel,” directed by Jared Menegat, runs this Thursday through Saturday. Cunning and energetic, Ethan Siegel makes an unusually persistent attempt to win his ex-girlfriends hand in marriage. This fast-paced romantic comedy start at 7 pm in the little theater.
