Announcements for January 9th 2023

Posted Date: 04/26/2024

ATTENTION 9TH GRADERS: Start 2023 off right by attending Club 9. Club 9 meets every Monday and Thursday in the Library from 3:30-4:30 pm and is a great time to get help from teachers or just have a quiet place to work. We hope to see you there.

NEXT ADVISORY: This Wednesday we are having a Teacher Resource Advisory.  If you need to see a teacher to get help on work, please ask them to sign you up for their Advisory time.  They may also ask for you, so keep an eye out on your StudentVue for that or the teacher will tell you directly.

NHS: Monthly NHS meeting is Tuesday, January 10, in the Little Theater, during lunch. Attendance is mandatory.

WINTER FORMAL TICKETS: Tickets for the winter formal are now available on schoolpay.com for $15 each. You must buy a ticket by January 25th in order to attend. Please see Ricci in the front office if the cost presents a financial burden.

SENIORS: Do not be someone who gives up on college because you think you can’t afford it! There are 4 universities in Oregon, including the U of O, that offer free tuition and fees to any Oregon students who have high financial need. In addition, every single Oregon community college uses a program called the Oregon Promise to greatly reduce their students’ tuition. Visit Lori Sauter in the career center to learn more about how you can pay for college without racking up huge debt.

TRANSCRIPT TIME: College bound Seniors, it’s time to send mid-year transcripts. Please submit a mid year request form to Leann in counseling if your school requires one. Check with admissions for that information. Thanks!

YOUTH TRADES ACADEMY: The 2023 Youth Trades Academy is accepting applications until March 7th. This seven-week program gives juniors and seniors an introduction to the skills necessary for an apprenticeship or employment in the sheet metal, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical trades. Apply soon to secure your spot. For more information, please drop by the career center in room 7, or email Lori Sauter.

JOB SHADOW OPPORTUNITY: Registration for a job shadow is now open until January 23rd. This Connected Lane County program matches area high schoolers with a company in their field of interest for a 3-hour job shadow experience. Register at connectedlane.org. If you have any questions about the program, please drop by the career center in room 7, or email Lori Sauter.

marketingJAM: Any students interested in marketing, branding, design, and business are invited to register for the 2023 marketingJAM. MarketingJAM is a three-day team-based marketing competition taking place January 20th through the 22nd. It is free and open to all high schoolers and LCC students.
