Announcements for September 28th

Fall Fest: Fall Fest is coming this Friday, Sept. 30!  On Friday we will have a long lunch so that students can pick up lunch from the cafeteria and head to the Science courtyard to learn about South Eugene clubs and Affinity Groups.  Club staff advisors have an email from assistant principal Ricci Huling with details.

IDs are in: If you got your picture taken last Wednesday,  your ID has come in. Please come in to the office to pick it up.

Feminist Union: Want to discuss social justice topics surrounding race, sexuality, gender, and sexism? Join South Eugene’s Feminist Union in Señora Keech’s room on Monday, 10/3,  room 25 in the main hall.  Even though this is Feminist Union, everyone is welcome and encouraged to join!

Speech and Debate: Interested in speech or debate? Come to room 113 during lunch today to learn about the club here at South and how to get involved. We will be starting regular meetings in the evenings within the month. Hope to see you today!

Math Club: Do you like math? But maybe not the math you do in class? Come by math club in room 726/728 during lunch on Thursdays to work on some mathy puzzles while having lunch.

Latinx Student Union: Attention everyone!  Latinx Student Union meets today and every Wednesday in Room 29 at lunch.  Today pizza will be provided as we plan for Club Day.  We hope to see you there!

Hispanic Heritage Month: From September 15 to October 15, the nation comes together to recognize the contributions and achievements of Hispanic Americans throughout history. Hispanic heritage month became a national holiday in 1988. Factoid: Hispanic means descended from a Spanish speaking population. Latino means descendants of peoples of Latin America. The two terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but have different definitions. If you want to celebrate Latino Heritage with a meaningful fact you would like to share, contact the Regional Equity Manager, Jason Floyd; in room 711, and let us honor the Latino heritage together.

PSAT: Sophomores and Juniors taking the PSAT! You can pick up a study guide in the front office or the career center. The career center also has a few PSAT prep books to check out, and the Khan Academy’s free SAT prep program works great for PSAT prep, too.

Seniors! It’s time for a chat with your counselor about post high school plans, including the college application process. Please schedule your Senior Interview using the QR code located in counseling or by going to the Counseling Department page on the SEHS website.
