Career-Technical Education Pathways (CTE)
Career-Technical Education (CTE) prepares students for high-skill, high-wage, high-demand jobs where you can be creative, innovative, and self-directed after high school. South’s programs focus on student collaboration, real-world relevance, and leadership development opportunities. CTE sets students up for success in all levels of post-secondary education and entry-level employment, start-up entrepreneurship, and community leadership.

Center for Applied Learning & Community Impact “CALCI” CTE Pathways
CALCI “Hub” Programs are district-wide Career-Technical programs that allow students to do a deep dive into a career pathway while earning high school credits and fulfill the Extended Application requirements to graduate. These programs have no prerequisites to enter, have integrated credit, and are project-based and hands-on. Attendance is essential in these programs, so be aware that chronic absences or tardies may result in your removal from the program.
CALCI programs differ from South-specific CTE programs in these ways:
- 11th and 12th Graders only (South programs can start as early as 9th grade)
- Double periods each day, either in the mornings or afternoons, except Future Build which is the entire A Day or B Day (South typically has a single class period per term of the program).
- Completed in a single year (South programs take 2-3 years to complete)
- Integrated Credits offered in more than one graduation credit type (South programs are often a single credit type, Applied Arts: CTE)
- District Provided Transportation as students go to different sites (South CTE programs happen only at South. HumaniTech is an exception since it is housed at South.)

Dear Incoming 9th Grade Families,
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to South Eugene High School!
At South we are committed to providing a seamless transition from middle school to high school, where students feel both excited and prepared to begin their journey with us. We will be having our Incoming 9th Grade Parent Information Night on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 6 pm. Our administrators, 9th grade counselor, department leads, and 9th grade transition coordinator look forward to sharing information and reviewing the course selection (forecasting) process.
The SEHS scheduling team will visit feeder middle schools to meet with our incoming 9th grade students. We will be visiting Roosevelt Middle School April 24th and Spencer Butte Middle School April 25th. At that time, students will learn about and begin their forecasting (course request) process. Please note that scheduling is not a first-come, first-served basis. Forecasting forms will become available to students during our classroom visit and are due at the beginning of May.
Students who reside inside the South Eugene attendance area and are not attending Roosevelt or Spencer Butte Middle Schools, must submit a completed enrollment packet to SEHS. Digital enrollment packets can be found on the 4j website (4j.lane.edu), under the Parent tab > Enroll/Register. Please submit completed packets along with the supporting documents to our Registrar. You may contact the Registrar’s office at shull@4j.lane.edu or 541-790-8015 with any questions regarding enrollment. Once your enrollment information has been processed, the counseling team will reach out to you with information regarding forecasting in May. Again, scheduling does not work on a first-come, first-served basis, so students from non-feeder middle schools will not be at a disadvantage forecasting in May.
Please reach out to Emily Rousseau (rousseau_e@4j.lane.edu) with any questions or needs. We are excited to partner with you and your student to ensure a smooth transition into South Eugene High School.
Go Axe!
