Grading and Student Progress
Parents have the ability to become an Observer in a Canvas course and to see coursework planned for students and their student’s grades. Instructions for becoming an Observer are available at https://www.4j.lane.edu/instruction/canvas/. Observers can find additional information about navigating Canvas by clicking on this Canvas Observer Guide.
It is important for families to know that StudentVUE/ParentVUE are still available for student schedule and attendance information. Also, on Progress Report Grading Day (Oct. 23) and on Trimester 1 Grading Day (Dec. 11), teachers will input the letter grade from Canvas into StudentVUE/ParentVUE for official reports at those two times of the term.
However, families should not anticipate using StudentVUE/ParentVUE for information on students’ grades between reporting periods unless the teacher has indicated that they are using Synergy as well as Canvas. In fact, please be aware that StudentVUE/ParentVUE may not be synched to Canvas for many classes and may not provide an accurate picture of students’ progress.
In short, parents should plan to access students’ grades through Canvas for the most accurate picture of students’ progress during the trimester.
