9th Grade Orientation 2021-22

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year!

We hope you have enjoyed a safe and healthy summer and were able to spend time with family and friends. We are thrilled to welcome our incoming 9th graders to South Eugene High School on Thursday, September 9th for the 9th Grade Transition Day from 8:30 am-2:30 pm. The day is planned with activities to help students feel connected, comfortable, and ready for the first day of school. Here are the details:

9th Grade Transition Day Schedule:
8:30-9:00: Arrival and check-in (students will enter through the main entrance); Bus passes and technology distribution, as needed.
9:00-9:15: Arrive at assigned classrooms for a brief overview of the day.
9:15-10:45: School tours & Peer Navigator-led activities.
10:50-12:30: Schedule rotation for periods 1-3 (30-minute classes).
12:30-1:20: Lunch*
1:20-2:30: Schedule rotation for periods 4-5 (30-minute classes).
2:30 Departure and student pick-up or optional technology/scheduling assistance.
(Optional) Canvas 101 introduction for any student new to Canvas: Library 2:35-3:30pm
(Optional) Additional scheduling assistance: Counseling Center 2:30-3:30pm

*Lunch will be provided at no cost to students. On September 9th, students will remain on campus for lunch and may eat in several designated outside eating areas, courtyards, or in the cafeteria. Please fill out this lunch survey to view the menu and order or decline lunch for your student.

 

  • Technology pick-up: If your student still needs to pick up their 4j issued laptop, please fill out this technology form so that we can coordinate a pick-up time.
  • Lockers: Lockers are being assigned as requested. If your 9th grader would like to have a locker this year, please fill out this locker request form. Students will receive an email with their locker assignment within one week of submitting the form. You will need to be signed in to your 4J Google account to access the form.
  • Students should arrive with their computers fully charged along with the charging cord, water bottle, something to write with, a mask, and, if desired, a lock so they can set up their locker.
  • For students new to Canvas, there will be an optional Canvas 101 student training session taking place in the library from 2:35pm-3:30pm. Students who would like a Canvas overview should go to the library after 5th period. During this session, there will be additional 4j password, StudentVUE, and email assistance offered.
