Incoming 9th Grade Parent Info Webinar

Dear Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to South Eugene High School! Our school community is rooted in the quality and commitment of our staff, but thrives on the excellence of our current and incoming students. Below, you will find information about parent events and classroom forecasting that may be helpful in your planning.

At South we are committed to providing a seamless transition from middle school to high school, where students feel both excited and prepared to begin their journey with us. We will be having our Incoming 9th Grade Parent Information Night Webinar on Tuesday, March 1st from 7:00- 8:30 pm. Our administrators, 9th grade counselor, department leads, and 9th grade transition coordinator look forward to sharing information and reviewing the course selection (forecasting) process. Spanish interpretation will be available. If you are unable to join, the presentation will be recorded for future viewing and will be available on our website. Topic: SEHS Incoming 9th Grade Information Webinar

When: Mar 1, 2022 7:00-8:30 pm

Shortly after our March 1st webinar presentation,  the SEHS scheduling team will visit feeder middle schools to meet with our incoming 9th grade students.  We will be visiting Roosevelt Middle School the week of March 1st and Spencer Butte Middle School the week of March 7th. At that time, students will learn about and begin their forecasting (course request) process. We will be holding a separate forecasting session for our current EOA 8th graders. Make-up forecasting opportunities and parent Q & A sessions will also be available. Stay tuned for more information. To stay up-to-date with events and dates, visit our Incoming 9th Grader webpage: https://sites.google.com/4j.lane.edu/9th-grade-information/home.   Please note that scheduling is not a first-come, first-served basis. Forecasting forms will become available to students during our classroom visit and are due March 18th.

Students who reside inside the South Eugene attendance area and are not attending Roosevelt or Spencer Butte Middle Schools, must submit a completed enrollment packet to SEHS. Digital enrollment packets can be found on the 4j website (4j.lane.edu), under the Parent tab > Enroll/Register.  Please submit completed packets along with the supporting documents to our Registrar between April 1st – April 20th.  You may contact the Registrar’s office at shull@4j.lane.edu or 541-790-8015 with any questions regarding enrollment. Once your enrollment information has been processed, the counseling team will reach out to you with information regarding forecasting in May.  Scheduling does not work on a first-come, first-served basis, so students from non-feeder middle schools will not be at a disadvantage forecasting in May.

Please reach out to Emily Rousseau (rousseau_e@4j.lane.edu) with any questions or needs. We are excited to partner with you and your student to ensure a smooth transition into South Eugene High School. Go Axe!

Warmly,

Emily Rousseau

9th Grade Transition Coordinator
