Parent Email- Textbook Returns & Distribution for Tri 2

In preparation for Trimester 2, some South students will need to return their textbooks and some students will need to pick up textbooks to use during T2.  Please see the dates listed below for textbook drop-off and distribution.  Unfortunately, due to Covid protocols we cannot run drop-off and distribution on the same days.

Teachers will let students know this week whether or not students need to return their books.   If a student is continuing in the same course during T2, they should not need to return their book.  If a student is not continuing in the same course during T2, they will need to return their book.  During the second week of T2 classes (Jan. 5-8), teachers will let students know whether they need to pick up any new books.

Also, our Student Government class will also be collecting canned food items on Dec. 16-17, and there will be bins available for any families who would like to contribute to the SEHS Food Drive.  For more information about the Food Drive click HERE

Textbook return dates & Food Drive collection (drop and go):

  • Wed., Dec. 16 from 1-6 pm
  • Thurs., Dec. 17 from 1-4 pm

T2 textbook distribution dates:

  • Tues., Jan. 12
    • 9th grade from 12-2 pm
    • 10th grade from 2-4 pm
  • Wed., Jan. 13
    • 11th grade from 12-2 pm
    • 12th grade from 2-4 pm

For those who are unable to attend the daytime distribution hours, we will also have evening hours open for any student/parent from 4-6 pm on Wed., Jan. 13th.

In order to observe safe physical distancing practices, we will follow these protocols:

  • If arriving by car:
    • Please only drive with members of your household
    • Plan to enter from Patterson St. and exit on 19th Ave.
    • Only one person should exit the vehicle to pick up items.
  • Students, family members, and staff will maintain a 6 foot distance from other people at all times.
  • The person picking up the books must wear a face covering.
  • Staff will wear masks and gloves and post signs regarding social distancing.  Staff will be on hand to help maintain 6’ distancing.

For textbook drop-off on Dec. 16-17, students/parents will simply place the book(s) they are returning and then leave.

For textbook pick-up on Jan. 12-13, there will be 2-3 distribution tables located under the overhang at the east end of the Auditorium lobby. Tables will be sanitized, and gloves and face coverings will be used by staff. Chalk will be used to mark spacing in order to help students and parents maintain physical distancing.  Staff will place the items for pickup on a table and then step back so that the person picking up the item can approach the table to retrieve the item.
