Student Government: Intramural Volleyball is coming soon, the first week of February will be the first round! Sign up with your friends or sports team. QR codes to sign up are around the school and bathrooms.
Career Center: Seniors with unfinished Junior Projects, NOW IS THE TIME! Come to the career center as soon as possible to finish them up. The career center isn’t very busy at the moment, so we have lots of help available. Also, the project becomes less useful to you as the year goes on, and it is a graduation requirement.
Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are invited to apply for a 3-hour job shadow with a company in their field of interest to take place on a no-school weekday, either March 13, March 27, or May 1. Specific date requests and other unusual needs will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you are a sophomore interested in STEM fields, keep listening! Applications are now being accepted for the Western Aerospace Scholars Program. This free program includes a two-month online course and a three-day summer program. It’s a great chance to explore the science behind outer space and space travel. Come to the Career Center or look in the school’s e-newsletter to learn more.
For seniors who have already applied to UO, there are two scholarships that may be right for you. The Presidential Scholarship awards $9,000 for 4 years and is merit and activity based. The Diversity Excellence Scholarship awards $6,500 for four years and is based on financial need, minority status, academics and extracurriculars. Apply by 1/31.
Beat the Odds scholarship is an incredible opportunity for local students to get $4,000, totaling $16,000 over four years. It is based on financial need and academic success despite personal hardship. Apply by 2/1.
