Career Center: PSAT study guides are now available! All sophomores and those Juniors who have opted to take the PSAT will take the test on Wednesday, October 16 at school. Sophomores who have an LA class this term should get their study guides from their LA teacher ASAP in order to prepare for the test. Sophomores not enrolled in a term 1 LA class and all juniors planning to take the test can pick up their study guides in the Career Center (room 7).

 

Cheer Team: Do you like to dance, do gymnastics, or have lots of energy? Are you looking to do a fun and exciting sport? Why not try out for cheer.  SEHS Cheer is holding tryouts for Winter season September 18th, in the cafeteria from 4-5:30. No experience is needed. Come in athletic clothes and be ready to have fun!

 

Math Help: Math Help is available in Room 716 with Ryan Brockey. Drop-in before school starting at 7:45am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays or after school until 4:15pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

 

Career Center: Juniors and Seniors, we have a bunch of college visits coming up! On Tuesday, the 17th, Portland State, the University of Portland, and Occidental college al have reps coming to South. And then on Thursday, the 19th, New York University and Macaleaster are both coming to the career center. Look in your Naviance account, in the e-newsletter, on South’s website, or in the career center for times and details.

 

Feminist Union: Feminist Union’s first meeting is today during lunch in room 409. Come join!

 

4j Nutrition Services/ South Cafeteria: Come on down to the cafeteria to check out the delicious build your own salad bar, daily burgers, chicken burgers, pizza, sandwiches, and daily special entree! And starting soon, the cafeteria will be using reusable silverware thanks to the hard work of South Students. Way to help save the earth!

 

Student Government: Glow-coming 2019 is coming up: Guest request forms are now available in the office for the neon-themed homecoming coming up on Saturday, September 28 from 8 to 11pm in the South Cafeteria. Tickets are $5 and will be sold in advance and at the door. Make sure to request songs for the dance in the office.

Career Center: Attention seniors with significant financial need and a 3.8 GPA or higher! Apply for the questbridge scholarship which covers full costs to attend highly selective universities. Apply by September 30th. Stop by the career center or check out South’s website for more information.
