Career Center: Juniors and Seniors, we have several college visits coming up! On Tuesday, the 17th Portland State, the University of Portland, and Occidental College all have reps coming to South. For Thursday, the 19th, New York University and Macalester are both coming to the Career Center. Look in your Naviance account, in the e-newsletter, on South’s website, or in the Career Center for times and details.
Math Help: Math help is available in room 716 with Ryan Brockey. Drop in before school at 7:45am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays or after school until 4:15pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Student Government: Glow-coming 2019 is coming up: This year’s neon-themed homecoming will be Saturday, September 28th from 8pm-11pm in the cafeteria. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Guest request forms will be available Monday, September 16th in the office and MUST be turned in by 4:00pm on September 25th. A song request sheet will also be available for your music recommendations.
Cheer Team: Do you like to dance, do gymnastics or have lots of energy? Are you looking to do a fun and exciting sport? Why not try out for Cheer. SEHS Cheer is holding tryouts for winter season September 18th, in the Cafeteria from 4-5:30. No experience is needed. Come in athletic clothes and be ready to have fun!
Axepresso: It’s Friday the 13th! That dreaded day that everyone fears. But you can change it around with a little luck of the Irish. Stop by Axepresso for a lucky Irish cream latte.
Parking: Students please purchase parking permits if you are driving to school. Parking enforcement will begin starting Monday, September 16th.
Pétanque: Pétanque is starting! If you want to learn a new skill, make new friends, and eat yummy snacks, then join the Pétanque team Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:45 behind the Cafeteria. Our first match is next week!
Counseling Office: Juniors choosing to take the PSAT exam here on October 16th must register and pay through FamilyI.D.com by October 1st. The fee is $17.00. Students on free/reduced lunch will still need to register, however, the fee will be waived. PSAT student guides are available in the Career Center once you’ve registered.
Career Center: PSAT study guides are now available! All sophomores and juniors who have opted to take the PSAT will take the test on Wednesday, October 16th at school. Sophomores who have a Language Arts class this term should get their study guides from their Language Arts teacher ASAP in order to prepare for the test. Sophomores not enrolled in a term 1 Language Arts class and all juniors planning to take the test can pick up their study guides in the Career Center (room 7).
