College & Career Readiness Day

This is a required school day. The morning is filled with activities relevant to each specific grade. In the afternoon students and teachers work together on individual classwork.

9th Grade Sessions

Arrive 8:30 am – and will be released at 12:45pm

Freshman will rotate through three different sessions covering healthy relationships, Naviance Course Planning and goal setting, and strategies to be successful, healthy students.

10th Grade: PSAT Test

Arrive 8:30am –and will be released at 12:45pm

This is a practice for the SAT college admission test. Practice booklets are available in the Career Center. This information will allow students to be familiar with the wording of questions, answer format and the instruction process prior to taking the test. Students need to bring picture ID, two #2 pencils (not mechanical), Scientific Calculator, a snack and a book of choice.

11th Grade: PSAT/NMSQT Test

Arrive 8:30am –and will be released at 12:45pm

Roughly 200 juniors are registered to take the PSAT. The PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program for juniors. Practice booklets are available in the Career Center. Students need to bring picture ID, two #2 pencils (not mechanical), Scientific Calculator, a snack and a book of choice.

Juniors not taking the PSAT

Arrive at 8:30 am in the Little Theatre. Workshops end at 12:45. for important information about junior year and other opportunities. Then students will join seniors to attend three workshops of their choosing as described below.

12th Grade Sessions:

Arrive 8:30 am in the Auditorium for an important meeting to hear about: diploma details, ordering caps & gowns, and senior year deadlines and activities. Seniors then attend three workshops of their choice. The workshops will offer a wide range of topics geared toward post high school plans. Workshops end at 12:45.

Seniors Only:

* CTE students will complete a Mock Interview for one of their three sessions.

* IHS students discuss their extended essay for one of their three sessions.

-Internships & Industry Tours, Elevate Lane County, Trade Career Panel, South’s College Application Process, GAP Year, Scholarships & Financial Aid, Writing a College Admission Essay, Stress Reduction, Smart Personal Finance, Career Programs at LCC, Military, Complete an Essential Skill Work Sample, SAT/ACT Test strategies, Volunteer Opportunities
